The big update is coming...

Hi everyone! We hope you're all safe and feeling good.

It's been some crazy weeks for us, as we had to move out from our previous coworking space and it's been quite a headache. But other than that we've been working super hard on the upcoming BIG update we talked you about in previous posts, and we're happy to say that it's looking great and it will be released very soon! We're very proud of what we were able to create in such a short time and we can't wait to put it in your hands.

In this post we'll talk about some of the main features you'll find in it:

Abilities are now the core of The Chronicler's gameplay: your chance to hit an enemy comes from Accuracy; the damage you deal when fighting with a sword is calculated through Slashing Weapons, and so on. You'll be able to level up each one separately to create the build you like.

We've been focusing on melée combat abilities for now, but we'll keep adding more in the coming updates, like Ranged Weapons, Stealth, Item Identification, Crafting, etc. to make the process of leveling up your Chronicler as flexible and interesting as possible. Do you want to be a badass swordfighter? Practice with your sword. Do you want to craft your own armor or be a sneaky character that avoids direct confrontation? You'll be able to do that as well.

Every 0.01% points of ability improvement increases one point in your Experience Bar. When you reach a certain limit, your Chronicler levels up, increasing its number of Hit Points and adding a small combat bonus.

Chroniclers are famous for their storytelling skills, but that doesn't mean they can't defend themselves in a fight. Every few levels, a new Special Move will appear below the minimap. You can activate these Special Moves with 0-9 keys to chain powerful attacks and healing effects. Using these skills strategically will give you an edge on every fight.

The update will also include many visual improvements to make the game more attractive, bug fixes, new areas to explore, and enemies to fight. We've also built many core pillars that, while invisible, will make our life much easier when it comes to adding content.

We're really excited about the future of The Chronicler and now that we'll have a solid foundation to work on with this update, we've decided it's time to put it in front of more people. That's why we're going to release it as a Steam Early Access title at the end of this month. We are aware that the game is still in its very infancy, but we really need the feedback (and the money, to be honest) to make the best game we can.

Needless to say, we'll send a Steam key to everyone who bought a copy on itch, as a sign of appreciation for being early adopters, so you can follow the development from Valve's shop, if you prefer.

Making a game of this kind is not an easy task, especially for a team of two, so we want to thank you all once again for your support and patience. This project wouldn't be possible without your help.
